What could be so newsworthy as to break my non-blogging habit? Nothing other than my newest invention: one-bite blancmange drizzled with fresh raspberry puree. I used the blancmange recipe for this creamy, pills almond-y treat as found in Encyclopedia of the Exquisite, but instead of casting one big mold, we daubed the blancmange into cute silicone ice cube trays, then left them to set in the freezer overnight. The next morning they came out of the mold–pop, pop, pop! The little beauties thawed in about 20 minutes in the summer heat. And I served them after a reading I did here at the Blue Hill Public Library in Maine last night. The crowd looked mighty pleased.
